Kinaesthetics

Kinaesthetics can be translated as “the art/science of movement perception.”

Kinaesthetics primarily focuses on the following topics:

  • The development of a differentiated and conscious perception of one’s own movement.
  • The development of a healthy and flexible use of one’s own movement (movement competence) in private and professional activities.
  • The differentiated analysis of human activities using the experience-based perspectives of Kinaesthetics.

Kinaesthetics approaches these topics in two ways:

  1. Tools and methods for classifying and understanding individual experiences.
  2. Cognitive engagement with theoretical foundations and scientific research.

In this way, it promotes awareness of the qualities and differences of movement in everyday activities.

The Effects in Caregiving

  • Promoting independence in everyday life
  • Greater range of motion
  • Reduced risk of accidents through self-awareness

When accompanying and caring for the elderly, the disabled, patients, and newborns, the effect of Kinaesthetics is always twofold:

Caregivers and those being cared for benefit equally from greater movement skills. Designing care interventions as interactions based on Kinaesthetics not only lead to astonishing progress for those in need of care, but also promotes the health and wellbeing of those providing care.

With Kinaesthetics, a company can specifically promote the practical skills and self-responsibility of its employees, as well as the quality of overall care.

Kinaesthetics aims to support learning and development processes with respect for the independence of the other person, thus contributing to the quality of life of all involved.
